Fake Hyperliquid App Discovered on Google Play Store, Posing Security Risk
A counterfeit Hyperliquid application has been identified on the Google Play Store, mimicking the legitimate platform's interface to deceive users. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT alerted the community via Telegram, noting the app's potential to compromise wallet security through stolen recovery phrases. One associated wallet address was tagged as '0x8c12C21C394D9174c3b1a086A97d2C5523ABb8F5'.
This incident follows a similar scam on Apple's App Store last month, where fraudulent crypto trading apps resulted in approximately $28,000 in user losses. Both cases highlight ongoing vulnerabilities in app store vetting processes for cryptocurrency-related applications.
